In the previous Article we saw how to calculate Nakshatra of the Sun by combining the Nakshatra of the day or the Nakshatra Position of the Moon and the Nity Yoga prevailing for the day.
Now we draw a Moon chart, Sun Chart, and Lagna Chart with the following steps.
- Calculate the Nakshatra of the Sun and the estimated Nakshatra Pada by calculating the distance between Sun and Moon according to the Tithi and Karan prevailing.
- Once we get Nakshatra of the Sun at Sunrise, which is the same as Degree of Lagna at Sunrise, calculate the Lagna by using the rule “ Degree of Lagna changes every 4 minutes.”
Let us see an example
To draw a Natal chart at-
25 October 2025, 4: 30 PM
Sunrise 6:32
At Sunrise
- Kartik-Shukl-Chaturthi
- Nakshatra- Anuradha (17)
- Vaar-Shaniwaar
- Yoga- Shobhan ( 5)
- Karan- Vanij
Moon Nakshatra is Anuradha- Rashi Scorpio
After Anuradha Scorpio has Jyeshtha Nakshata which means the moon will be in Scorpio for the whole day, even if the Moon changes Nakshatra immediately after sunrise.

Month is Kartik- In the month of Kartik, the Sun transits from Virgo to Libra, and the Sun Can either be in Virgo or libra
Yoga – Shobhan
Sun (N) + Moon ( N) -1 = Yoga ( N)
Sun (N) + 17 – 1 = 5
Sun ( N) = 5- 16 = 11
Sun No = 26- 11 = 15
Sun is in 15 th Nakshatra= Swati at Sunrise

Tithi is Shukl chaturthi-
The distance between the Sun and the Moon on Shukl Chaturthi is 36-48 degree which means the longitude of the Sun is less than that of the Moon In the Range of 36-48 degrees
Then we have to try different combinations to check what could be the Nakshatra Pada of the Sun and the Moon
Sun In Swati
Moon in Anuradha
Various Combination
- Sun in Swati 1- Moon in Anuradha 1 – Distance= 23 degrees 20 min ( Rejected)
- Anuradha 2 – Distance= 26 degrees 40 min ( Rejected)
- Anuradha 3- Distance= 30 ( Rejected)
- Anuradha 4 – Distance= 33 degrees 20 min ( Only Possibility, closest possible distance should be at least 36 degrees, which meansthe moon is at the end of nakshatra Pada and just about to change nakshatra pada after sunrise)
The sun is in the first pada of the Swati nakshatra
6°40′ to 20°00′ in the Libra (Tula Rashi)
Range- 186°40′- 190°
Let us assume the sun is at 187 degrees at Sunrise, 6:32 AM
Time of birth is 4:30 PM
Time elapsed after Sunrise= 9 hours 58 minutes= 598 minutes
Lagan changes by a degree every 4 minutes
Change of lagan at 4:30 PM = 598/4= 149.5 Degree
Lagan has moved by 149 degrees 30 minutes
Lagan at 4:30 PM = 187 + 149 degree 30 minutes = 336 degree 30 min=
6 degrees 30 minutes Pices

Once our Lagna, Moon chart, and Sun chart are in place, we can easily place all other planets as they move slowly. We can either remember the placement if the time is recent or follow the following rules
- Saturn completes a zodiac cycle in 29 years. Move back the position of Saturn in cycles of 29 from the present day transit to get the placement of Saturn.
- Jupiter completes a Zodiac cycle in 12 years. Move back the position of Jupiter in cycles of 12 from the present day transit to get the placement of Jupiter
- Rahu-Ketu completes a Zodiac cycle in 18 years. Move back the position of Rahu-Ketu in cycles of 18 from the present day transit to get the placement of Rahu-Ketu
- Mars completes a Zodiac cycle in 2 years. Move back the position of Mars in cycles of 2 from the present day transit to get the placement of Mars
- We calculated the Moon Sign (Scorpio) using the Nakshatra at Sunrise.
- We derived the Sun Sign (Libra) using the Nitya Yoga formula.
- We found the Lagna (Pisces) by calculating the time elapsed from Sunrise (1 degree per 4 mins).
- Finally, we placed slow-moving planets by tracking backward from current transits.
